A complimentary dementia care workshop for family carers will be hosted from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, at the Home Instead Senior Care office in Wexford Enterprise Centre, Rosslare Road.
The purpose of the workshop is to support family carers in taking care of loved ones with Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia.
It is open to family carers from the local community and will help attendees learn practical caregiving techniques such as:
•Suggested approaches when helping with personal care activities
•Understanding behavioural symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias
•Learning how to start conversations for effective communication
•Recognising ways to prevent behavioural symptoms
•Discovering ways to care for yourself so you can avoid excessive stress
Stephen Conway, Owner and Managing Director of Home Instead Senior Care in Wexford said September is World Alzheimer's Month and we care for many people living with Alzheimer's or other dementias.
'We hope this workshop is a real help to family carers in the local community and anyone affected,' said Mr Conway.
