Clonard resident Carol Fox was brewing up a storm at her annual coffee morning which attracted over 100 people from all over the community.

As part of Ireland's biggest coffee morning, she gathered the troops to raise some funds Wexford Hospice Homecare. This year they managed to raise €2075, which is the highest amount raised since Carol established the event five years ago.

'We've never gone over the €2000 mark before,' said Carol. 'It was absolutely overwhelming!'

The tradition began five years ago soon after Carol was made redundant. On hearing about the Ireland's Biggest Coffee Morning initiative, she decided that it would be the perfect opportunity to meet her neighbours and organised an event at her home. Fastforward five years and the gathering is now so large that it must be held elsewhere.

'It got a bit too big to hold at home so I asked to have it over in Clonard Community Centre,' explained Carol. 'If it wasn't for the women at the centre, I wouldn't be able to do it. They are brilliant.'

According to Carol, the morning was a great community event complete with coffee, cake and conversation. She has no doubt that she will be holding another event next year.
