An unmarked squad car was rammed yesterday afternoon, Monday, as gardaí attempted to stop a vehicle which had come to their attention on the N11.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident which occurred at around 1.30 p.m. around 500 metres onto the busy northbound lane of the M11 motorway, close to the Clogh roundabout.

The vehicle was brought to the attention of gardaí at Oylegate, but failed to stop. It was being followed by patrol cars from Enniscorthy and Ferns by the time it passed through Camolin.

A third garda vehicle, an unmarked car, was then used to block the vehicle as it drove on to the M11. The decision was made to stop the car for the driver's own safety. Minor damage was reported to the front of the Garda car.

A man in his early thirties was arrested and brought to Gorey Garda Station. Gardaí are satisfied the matter came to a safe conclusion for everyone concerned, and the man was given medical attention.
