Generosity of Wexford groups rewarded at a special event organised by the South Wexford branch of MS Ireland
The South Wexford Branch of MS Ireland aspires to use locally raised funds to help local people at a recent gathering in Murrintown, they showed generous contributors where their donations have gone.
A huge crowd of people came to Murrintown Community Centre where the branch carry out physio every Tuesday evening. They learned more about the MOTOmed - a machine purchased with the help of donations which helps people in wheelchairs to take part in beneficial exercise.
'A lot of the people there raised money for the MOTOmed,' explained Chairperson of the South Wexford Branch of the MS Society Ruby Murphy. 'This is like a bike for people in wheelchairs. It works their arms and legs while doing part of the work for them.'
Members of the Lions Club, sixth class pupils from Murrintown and many others attended the gathering to learn more about the work of the MS Society.
'We wanted to thank everyone as a whole,' said Ruby. 'We always say local money is used locally so it is important that people know where it is going. Their donations will help the 50 people from Wexford who attend our centre weekly.'
