Going down well: diesel dips below the euro mark

DIESEL prices in Wexford have for the first time in more than a decade dipped below a euro a litre.

Castlebridge Centra, which is owned by Louis Flanagan, became the first service station in the county to offer diesel below a euro over the weekend, with a price of 99.9 cents a litre, around two cents a litre cheaper than his nearest competitors.

Around the county, unleaded petrol too is available for less than 119 cents a litre on some forecourts, far lower than the average.

Mr Flanagan says he believes cheap diesel and petrol will remain at least for the foreseeable future.
