a Dublin-based producer/director with RTE's Investigations Unit is to talk about his newly-published book 'Grandpa The Sniper' at The Book Centre in Wexford at 6.30 p.m. on Friday (March 25).

'I've just published (Liffey Press) about my grandfather (and namesake). The book details his untold story, including his involvement at North King Street through Easter Week, his subsequent imprisonment and very active role through the War of Independence,' said its author Frank Shouldice.

Frank said the book had been very warmly received. Prof Diarmaid Ferriter endorsed it as 'rich, evocative and vivid -- an absorbing family history.'

'I researched the story in great depth, which involved re-tracing my grandfather's steps to his native Ballaghaderreen and across to the jails he was incarcerated in around England and Wales (one of which, Usk Jail, he escaped from in 1919). I will be speaking about the background to it all at The Book Centre,' he said.

The event is open to the public and admission is free.
