Householders across Wexford are being encouraged to avail of an upcoming opportunity to dispose of their hazardous wastes free of charge.
The Southern Region Waste Management Office has teamed up with Local Authorities across the region, including Wexford County Council, to operate 8 bring centres for the collection of hazardous domestic waste, one of which will be located at Holmestown Household Recycling Centre on Saturday January 23 from 8.15am to 3pm. The centre will be closed for lunch between midday and 1pm.
Waste items including lead acid batteries, cooking and engine oil, oil filters, fluorescent tubes, paints and lacquers to a maximum 20 cans, paint strippers and cleaners, household aerosols, old medicines and pesticides/herbicides to a maximum of 15 cans can be deposited at the Civic Amenity Centre.
Staff from Wexford County Council's Environment section will be present for the day, which is funded by the Department of the Environment, Heritage & Local Government. Information guides on green cleaning and green gardening will also be made available.
