Helen Connors retrial ordered
THE TRIAL of a woman accused of impeding the murder investigation into the death of Wexford mother Rebecca French has been rescheduled for June 2012. The Central Criminal Court said on Monday that the case of Helen Connors (25) from Belvedere Grove, Wexford, will be re-tried in 12 months' time.
The body of Ms French (30) was discovered in the boot of her burning car on October 9, 2009. She had died as a result of a blunt-force trauma to the head. Helen Connors denies impeding the murder investigation.
The case was tried at the Central Criminal Court earlier this month, and after more than five hours of deliberation over two days the jury of eight men and four women told Mr Justice Garrett Sheehan that they could not reach agreement.
On Monday the Central Criminal Court rescheduled a new trial for next year. Bail terms were set for Ms Connors who, according to local gardaí, ' has not taken up bail'.
