Hotel almost ran dry
BUNCLODY'S Millrace Hotel almost ran dry last week after Wexford County Council sought to cut off water supplies to the business. The local authority acted in pursuit of more than €140,000 in charges claimed from the hotel, which resorted to court in Dublin to resist the move.
Rusticford Ltd. which runs the hotel insisted that the debt was not their problem and that the money was owed by the Carlton hotel group. Counsel for Rusticford pointed out that, if the council went ahead with its threat to shut off the mains, then staff would have to be laid off and the reputation of the hotel would take a serious knock.
Mr. Justice Roderick Murphy granted an injunction restraining the council from cutting off the water.
