DELIGHTED staff members at Murphy SuperValu in Rosslare Harbour say they have absolutely no idea who won more than €2.5 million in the Saturday Lotto draw.

The €4 Quick Pick ticket was one of 500 tickets sold at the shop on Saturday.

'It could be anybody, we have a lot of tourists coming through every day and it could be a tourist, although we haven't a clue,' said shop owner Alan Murphy.

He said there had been a great buzz around the village since news of the win broke over the weekend, prompting a lot of speculation about who may suddenly be €2.5 million better off.

Alan said that while this was the store's first major Lotto win it had had past successes with €190,000 about a decade ago and a woman 'who won a million on the scratch cards'.

'We haven't sold as many winning tickets as some shops, but hopefully we will sell some more. It's great news though and there's a great buzz around,' said Alan, who broke the news of the Lotto win on the shop's Facebook page on Sunday, urging people to check their tickets.
