James Browne retains his father's seat

Fianna Fail's James Browne has become the second TD elected in Wexford retaining the seat his father, John, held for the past 33 years.

James was elected at 2.19  am on Sunday morning at the end of the tenth count with a total vote of 12,434 giving him a surplus of 490 over the quota of 11,944. 

The votes for the rest of the candidates are as follows:

Malcolm Byrne 7,122

Michael D'Arcy 8,884

Paul Kehoe 8,874

Johnny Mythen 8,795

Mick Wallace 11,817

James Browne's surplus of 490 votes is now being distriibuted.


The quota is 11,944
