It was a feast for fine tastes as Joe Whitmore polished off the fine bone china and set the tables for a vintage tea party in aid of the Bone Marrow Trust.

A flow of people decided tea was in order and poured into Castlebridge Community Centre to find the venue transformed into a vintage tearoom complete with candles, flowers and stacks of cakes of all varieties. A total of €851 was raised on the day and all of this will be donated to the Bone Marrow Trust.

PRO of Wexford Federation ICA Joe Whitmore decided to organise the fundraiser and 'celebration of life' to mark 15 years since she was treated for Leukaemia. This year also marks the 21st anniversary of the Bone Marrow Trust and with this in mind, Joe plans to take part in a sponsored walk for the trust in Malta in November.

To date, Joe has raised nearly €30,000 by doing three walks with the Trust, one as far as Vietnam in 2008. Though she will pay for her travel and accommodation out of her own pocket, she is currently seeking sponsorship for the walk.
