Joe Ryan named new Local Area Representative in Wexford by the Labour Party
Former Mayor of Wexford and CBS teacher Joe Ryan has been appointed Local Area Representative in Wexford by the Labour Party.
Joe was one of 12 Labour Party members appointed nationally to campaign and work in their community and rebuild the Labour Party. He said that he was appointed to the position in recognition of the facts that there are now just three Labour councillors working in Wexford whereas previously there had been 12.
'Brendan Howlin as Minister delivered enormous levels of investment to Wexford at the most difficult of times for this country. However the job is not complete. We need to see the development of the former Wexford Electronics site as a business hub. We need to maintain the pressure on the government to deliver a University of the South East with a Wexford campus,' said Joe following his appointment.
'I look forward to working with both Brendan Howlin and George Lawlor in rebuilding the Labour Party and ensuring that Wexford is prioritised by Wexford County Council for the remaining term that the council has left.'
