A Wexford lady missed out on the chance to be crowned top baker when she was met with stiff competition in the quarter-finals of the National Brown Bread Baking Competition in Louth.
Josephine Keane from Wexford Town was one of as one of 27 individual county winners who had qualified for the event in An Grianán on August 13. Josephine, who is Wexford PRO of the ICA, got through to the final stages for her bread which was her own adaptation of an Aldi recipe. Unfortunately, her success ended in Louth as she was not selected to go through to the final rounds.
The top two bakers from each province were chosen on August 13 and are now set to compete in the semi-finals and finals at the National Ploughing Championships from September 22-24. The prize is €2,500 cash and €2,500 in Aldi vouchers.
