The journalist and author Frank McNally visited the Blue Egg Gallery in John's Gate Street, Wexford, to perform the official opening of a new exhibition of beautiful jugs in stoneware, earthenware, porcelain and glass by 30 imaginative Irish artists and potters whose work ranges from the decorative to the functional.

The opening afternoon was a huge success, requiring an ample supply of red dots as people bought up creations made by the talented exhibitors. The display, curated by Hilary Morley and Mary Gallagher, will continue until the end of May.

The Blue Egg is located in an 18th-century townhouse and run by Mary Gallagher, who has a special interest in contemporary ceramics.
