Just a few weeks of shoe box appeal left

COUNTY Wexford sent 7,816 gift-filled shoe boxes to needy children in Africa and Eastern Europe last Christmas, and this year the organisers are hoping for an even better response.

There are just seven weeks left to fill boxes for this year's campaign, which is being organised by the new Irish charity Team Hope, which was previously part of the Samaritan's Purse appeal.

The experienced team has been doing the Christmas shoe box appeal with the help of local volunteers for the past 11 years.

Boxes can be dropped off at collection points around the county. Visit the website www.teamhope.ie for more details. Appeal manager Carol Hennessy praised Wexford volunteers for their hard work in previous years and said she was looking forward to a record number of shoe boxes this year.

' The kindness of every person who takes part, can make a child's Christmas one that they will never forget', she said.
