Councillor Kathleen Codd Nolan questioned the front of house conduct at Garda stations in light of a call made by an acquaintance regarding a 'serious incident'.
'The first thing they said is "are you prepared to give evidence in court" without even listening,' she said. 'Is that the way Gardaí are trained?'
Supt Roche said that people do not have to make a statement in order to report a crime.
'We definitely have some work to do on front of house,' he said.
