Katie will be leading light in regional final of competition

Fifth year Loreto student Katie Stone proved she is leading the way when she was announced as the winner of the 2015 Rotary Club of Wexford's Youth Leadership Development Competition.

The 16-year-old, who hails from Barntown, battled it out against representatives from 11 participating schools to win the final in the Riverbank House Hotel. Katie now has her sights set on the Regional final where she hopes to win a place on a week-long leadership development programme in Dublin, Belfast and Strasbourg. This year, the Regional final will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Wexford with winners from Carlow, Kilkenny, Thurles, Youghal and Wexford set to take part.

The chairman of the Youth Leadership Development Competition, Karl Fitzpatrick acknowledged Katie's win saying:

'On behalf of my fellow Rotarians, I would like to congratulate Katie on her success so far and I wish her the best of luck in the Regional Final.'

Katie's fellow competitors were: Anna Bell, Presentation; Brandon Maltby, Selskar College; Carl Reardon, St. Peter's College; Niamh Bridges, Meanscoil Gharman; Clíona O'Leary, Coláiste an Átha; Aoife Murphy, St. Mary's Secondary School; Daniel Murphy, Good Council College; Alice O' Dowd, FCJ Bunclody; Jason Bolger, St. Mary's CBS Enniscorthy; and Clodagh Bohanna, Ramsgrange Community College.
