First class pupils from Kilmore National School took a walk on the wild side during a recent visit to Wexford Library.

It was there that the eager pupils met with Dolores Keaveney - a renowned children's author who brings nature to life in her colourful storybooks. All eyes were on Dolores as she read some passages from her books and introduced them to the world of wildlife.

The self-published author and illustrator has eight children's books, all of which are known for their vibrant and uplifting pictures. In 2009, she launched her first picture book, 'If I were a bee' and she has continued to launch at least one book a year ever since.

Although she is from Mullingar, she credits a Wexford man as one of her favourite authors. She has openly praised the work of Enniscorthy writer Colm Toibin, saying that 'The Story of the Night' was one of her favourite books.
