Launch of Pettitt's SuperValu Half Marathon

it is all systems go for the Wexford Half Marathon and 10 km race, which is expected to generate €250,000 in revenue for Wexford town and surrounding areas.

The annual event, which takes place on April 23, is in its eighth year and will attract runners, joggers and walkers from all over Ireland and beyond. Amongst local clubs, the race has become a big social event on the Wexford sporting calender.

'The Wexford race has become a weekend away for many running groups and clubs. Indeed, it is expected that the race will generate a quarter of a million in revenue for the town and surrounds,' said race organiser Eoin Ryan at last week's launch.

Each participant will be given a long sleeved training top and a medal, which has an image of Hook Lighthouse.

The race is open to anyone who may wish to walk or run in either race. The closing date for online entries will be on April 17 and late entries will be taken at registration on the day of the race, April 23.
