A Tribute to the crew of Rescue 116 will take place at 7.30 p.m. on Friday, April 28, on Wexford Quay, organised by the crew of Wexford RNLI.

Lifeboats from Rosslare and Wexford will lay wreaths afloat and let off flares followed by a minute's silence to remember the crew of Rescue 116, Captain Dara Fitzpatrick, Mark Duffy, Paul Ormsby and Ciaran Smith, who tragically lost their lives on March 14 when the helicopter crashed into the sea near Blacksod, County Mayo.

Emergency services, including the Irish Coast Guard, will also take part tribute and a Book of Condolences will be open during the ceremony at the Coast Guard Unit on Wexford Quay. Any cards/pictures from children can be given to the Coast Guard. Rescue 117 have confirmed that they will be doing a fly past over Wexford Quay as part of the Tribute.

For more details see Wexford RNLI Facebook Page.

Captain Fitzpatrick was well-known to the emergency services in Wexford as the pilot of the Rescue 117 helicopter which is based in Waterford and was a regular visitor to the county.
