Local artists exhibit work in Castlebridge
CASTLEBRIDGE COMMUNITY CENTRE will be transformed into an art gallery of sorts on Sunday 28 and Monday 29 of October as a group of local artists hold their first exhibition. The group, consisting of 12 to 15 members from all over the county, has been in existence for nearly five years and meet in the Community Centre regularly throughout the year to seek some expert advice to improve their painting skills. For the past three years, Rita Sinnott from Gorey has been the acting tutor to the group and she is delighted with the progress they have made.
This year the group decided to take the bold step of holding their first exhibition. As well as taking the opportunity to show off their work to the public, the group are also attempting to raise some funds for a local charity in the form of the Tracie Lawlor Trust for Cystic Fibrosis, who are based in Castlebridge, so the public are being urged to come and take a look at some of the art on show and also contribute to a great cause.
The official opening of the exhibition will take place on Saturday, October 27, at 6 p.m. and will be performed by Dymphna Doyle, secretary of the Tracie Lawlor Trust.
