Members of Wexford Golf Club recently gathered together for a fundraising barbeque and it certainly went off to a tee.

Over one hundred people turned up to the event, which raised over €680 for Wexford MarineWatch. Paddy Cleary, Honorary Secretary of the Club, said that they hope to continue to lend a hand to the cause.

'They are a worthy cause,' he said. 'I don't think that they are receiving adequate funding for the job that they do. We hope to run this barbeque on an annual basis.'

This isn't the first time that the golfers have fundraised for mental health; in recent months, the club have arranged smaller events in aid of Marinewatch. They also are firm supporters of Console, for whom they organise annual golf events.

'We felt that the two were kind of linked,' said Paddy. 'They both do very important jobs.'
