Local man James to light up national stage
James McDermott is set to see his name in lights when he takes to the stage in the National Concert Hall for the Irish debut tour of 'Listen to My Heart'.
The talented man, who is a member of the Wexford Light Opera Society, will raise the roof on the national musical theatre stage as one of a five-part singing ensemble. The singing sensations will perform two dozen songs by leading American composer and arranger, David Friedman, who is associated with Disney productions such as 'Pocahontas' and 'Beauty and the Beast'.
A regular cabaret artist at Kelly's Resort Hotel, James is no stranger to the limelight. He has received widespread praise for his stage performances, having won a 'best actor' award from the Association of Irish Musical Societies.
The show will be directed by one of Ireland's leading directors, Christine Scarry, who is no stranger to Wexford either. Christine directed Wexford Light Opera Society's multi-award winning production of 'Ragtime', and their much-acclaimed Irish premiere of 'The Producers' and Stephen Sondheim's 'Follies' - both at the National Opera House.
James will shine on stage at the National Concert Hall, Dublin on September 9, the Watergate Theatre, Kilkenny on September 12, and An Taibhdhearc, Galway on September 24.
