Lots of fun and adventure is had at new Rosslare facility
ST HELEN'S Bay-Rosslare Adventure Centre opened to the public on Friday night, creating a new tourism offering for Co Wexford.
The new initiative from what was, prior to this development, St Helen's Bay Golf Resort has a huge range of activities for people of all ages.
General Manager Larry Byrne said their activities include kayaking, snorkelling, golf, abseiling, archery, tennis, a rope course, tennis, team building and orienteering, as well as equestrian activities, from beach rides to Gymkhana.
'The opening was great. This is really going to take off,' said Larry, who has got a huge amount of enquiries about the adventure centre already.
Larry said that it was a natural progression for them at St Helen's Bay as they already had a lot of the man-made amenities required on their doorstep, not least the beautiful beach.
The adventure centre will also be using the facilities of Shielbaggan Outdoor Education Centre, for activities like kayaking, and plan to continue to operate from there after the centre is ' moved' to its new home on Forth Mountain, Barntown, by Co Wexford VEC.
'It's a new tourism offering for the whole area,' said Larry, pointing out that it will also create jobs. The feedback from those who have already used the centre, such as Carlow's Knockbeg College, has been great. The school went ahead and booked it for the next five years!
The centre will hope to have plenty of groups from schools and other organisations, as well as availing of the huge influx of tourists into Rosslare and Co Wexford during the summer months. It will be open from Monday to Friday throughout this summer.
