The new outdoor seating at The Bullring, in the shadow of the iconic Pikeman statue.

The Bullring's historic Pikeman has some convivial company after Wexford District Council granted publican Eddie Macken permission to place outdoor seating around the statue.

Macken's customers can now enjoy a pint continental-style while relaxing al fresco at tables on either side of the 1798 monument in the heart of the town.

Permission to operate an outdoor area was granted recently on a two-month trial basis.

The feedback from townspeople and customers has been enthusiastic, according to Eddie.

'The customers love it, especially the tourists,' he said.

'I've always thought it would be a good idea, to create more atmosphere in the area.'

I think it will also draw more people into the Bullring market,' said Eddie.

The publican thanked neighbouring businesses and the Borough District Council for their support.
