WEXFORD Male Voice Choir will finish a successful season with a Special Summer Concert in the Friary in Wexford this coming Sunday, June 28, at 8 p.m. Special guests on the night will be the Virtuoso Chamber Choir, from Birr, Co. Offaly, with whom the choir performed at Kinitty Castle in a concert in aid of Offaly Hospice in October 2014.

Tickets for Friary concert are €15 and are available on the door or from any choir member.

In May, Wexford Male Voice Choir travelled to New Ross to take part in the annual AIMS festival. Competing in the Rodgers & Hammerstein section in the morning, singing 'Nothing Like A Dame', they came away as winners of the Gerry Slevin perpetual cup.

Later in the day, in the coveted Male Voice Choir section, they sang 'I Dreamed a Dream' and 'Dashenka'.

Beating off stiff competition from Navan, Castlecomer and the Intonation Choir from Dublin, they made it a double on the day and claimed the Pageworks trophy to make them winners in New Ross for the first time in their history.

The choir have had a very busy year since the turn of the year culminating with their win in New Ross.

This was a follow on to their hugely successful joint concert with the men of the Australian Welsh Male Choir in aid of Wexford's Able Disabled Club, which raised over €2,000 in much-needed funds for the club.
