Man arrested after seizure of new 'designer drug'
REVENUE officers and members of the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau seized half a kilo of a new designer drug in Enniscorthy.
The seizure of the drug, Pentylone, was part of an intelligence-led operation.
The consignment, with a street value of €25,000, originated in China and was seized following a controlled delivery to an address in Enniscorthy.
Revenue said in a statement that a 45-year-old Irish male was arrested by gardaí and detained at Enniscorthy Garda station under the provisions of section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
Pentylone is a stimulant compound, of the cathinone family, which has been reported as a new or novel designer drug (NPS).
Investigations are continuing.
