Man attacked by a group of people in Wexford town estate

A MAN has been attacked by a crowd of angry people in a Wexford town estate on Tuesday.

The victim of the attack, a man in his late 20s, was said to have been beaten in the attack which took place in Talbot Green. At least one of his attackers struck him across the head with a hurl. Others are said to have kicked him as he was lying on the ground during the assault which took place around 1 p.m.

The incident was witnessed by a large group of children who were out playing at the time.

'All the children were terrified. They were screaming,' said a witness.

The victim of the attack, who is known to gardai, was taken to hospital by ambulance following the incident.

Large numbers of gardai responded to the incident, the cause of which is currently being investigated.
