Man charged with toddler's murder

DENIES KILLING BOY SEVEN YEARS AGO

AN AUGHRIM man who denies murdering a young boy in Co. Wexford seven years ago will go on trial today, Wednesday at the Central Criminal Court.

Philip Doyle (34) with an address at Tinakilly, Aughrim, Co. Wicklow is accused of the murder of Ross Murphy at Creagh Demesne, Gorey, Co. Wexford on April 5, 2005.

Doyle has pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder.

The jury was sworn in on Monday and was told the case which is expected to last four weeks concerned ' the death of a child'.

The trial will be heard before a jury of seven men and five women presided over by Mr Justice Patrick Mccarthy.
