Man owes €9,000 to insurance company

A YOUNG man has told a judge how he is in talks with an insurance company about paying them back €9,000 after they paid out on an accident he caused while driving without insurance.

Thomas Lambden (25), of 24 St Helen's Bay, Rosslare Harbour, has admitted driving without insurance at Cross of the Barracks, Kilrane, on August 19, 2010, when he caused an accident with another motorist while driving his girlfriend's car.

Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla heard that an AXA insurance disc was displayed on the car, but that it had been cancelled three weeks earlier due to a late payment. Lambden accepts this, but said he only found out when he called AXA following the accident. The case was adjourned until October 4 next.
