Market stall holder Bernie Doyle took part in an hour-long meeting with Mayor Cllr. George Lawlor and council officials on Tuesday afternoon at which the mayor said the council expressed its support for her and stressed it did not want to see her leave the Bullring market.
He said, however, the council also had to take on board issues raised by shop owner Diana Donnelly, who had complained about cooking smells from Bernie's stall pervading her premises.
'Hopefully Bernie will remain in the spot she's in and we will be able to provide some assistance to her remaining there in terms of lock ups,' said Cllr. Lawlor.

'As far as the council is concerned the matter is closed and people should move on,' he said.
Bernie is due to announce her decision on Wednesday (May 20).
