MARSHALSTOWN PLENTY OF PRAISE, COLOURED GATES WOULD LIFT IMAGE

THE TIDY TOWNS has suggested that Marshalstown's gates become colour coordinated to give the village's image a boost.

The village came in for a lot of praise this year, from the well-maintained parish church to the clean community hall and the village shop to the school.

But ' the condition of gates throughout the village' was of some concern. 'Perhaps a common colour could be chosen and all gates painted in that colour?' suggested the adjudicators.

The Marshalstown committee are also encouraged to make the most of everything in their area when making their submissions.

The report notes that 'probably the most impressive and interesting part of the Built Environment in your village are the amazing line of tombstones in the field beside the parochial house and you do not refer at all to these (in your report)'. Where were they moved from and when, and why, were they moved into line?' ask the adjudicators.
