Mass-goers are thanked for generous support for collection for Pakistan
THE SPECIAL collection taken at Masses in the Diocese of Ferns recently for the victims of the floods in Pakistan was well supported by all who donated. 'Initial indications are suggesting a very positive and generous response from the people of the Diocese of Ferns to the special collection for Pakistan,' said the Bishop's Secretary, Fr John Carroll.
' This is the third appeal to the people of the diocese this year,' said Fr Carroll, ' the people already having shown themselves second to none when asked to contribute to the Haiti appeal and the annual Lenten Trocaire campaigns earlier this year.'
'I am very conscious of the many demands on people's more limited resources in these straitened times, but this response to Pakistan points to another very genuine Christian desire on the part of churchgoers in Ferns Diocese to respond to the plight of others and to assist them in their hour of need,' said Fr Carroll.
The Bishop's House who will forward the proceeds of the collection from the parishes of the diocese to Trocaire who will then put it to good use helping the millions of people in flood-ravaged Pakistan.
