The only Women's Shed in the country invited the newly elected Mayor of Wexford Cllr Jim Moore to their premises in Tomhaggard where he gave an inspirational speech.

They invited Mayor Moore as he has been a big supporter of the Women's Shed and believes in volunteering and social inclusion, a lot of the members come from outside of Wexford.

He praised all the hard work the group have done including the Christmas craft fair and the development of the community garden.

The Shed has been running for two years and currently has 35 members, with people from several parts of Ireland also enquiring about their group.

'We were one of the first and are currently the only one in Ireland,' said committee member Breda Hayes.

The members meet every Monday for three hours where they share their skills and take part in courses such as stained glass workshops, knitting, sewing and, most recently, an Indian cookery demonstration. The group also go on monthly outings.
