WEXFORD'S historic Pikeman has all his bits again, after the missing part of his pike was mysteriously dropped into a South Main Street pub.
Two weeks ago the Bullring landmark was damaged and half of the pike was stolen by an Irish jersey-wearing vandal who was caught on CCTV.
At the time, Liam Mellows Park man Sean Farrell publicly denounced the vandalism and described the act as a 'crime against Wexford and all of its people'.
On Friday evening a local hostelry at South Main Street called Sean to inform him the missing piece had been dropped into the pub for him to collect.
'I don't know why someone left it in for me, but I had been on radio complaining about the damage to the pike last week,' said Sean.
'I don't know who left the missing piece of pike in the pub for me, but I'm delighted to have it back,' he said.
'It was left in the pub with no explanation. There was nothing whatsoever to say who had left it there, or why it was left for me,' he added.
The piece of the pike has since been passed on to Wexford Borough Council, and arrangements are currently being made to have it re-attached properly to its rightful place on the statue in the Bullring.
