Independent candidate Emmet Moloney has branded the abolition of town councils as 'one of the most regressive measures of this government', saying that it has done more harm than good.
The Selskar native, who has said that the issue will be one of his main priorities should he be elected, said that many local residents have shared similar concerns in recent weeks.
'I believe this measure needs to be reversed and returning power to local communities over their own lives is a must,' he said.
