Motorist crashed into pole
A MAN who crashed into a pole and was caught drink driving on two separate incidents, was fined a total of €1,000 and banned from driving for three years by Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla at Wexford District Court.
John Goff, Allenstown, Broadway was fined €500 for drink driving at Ferney Hill, Killinick on July 17. He was arrested after gardai saw him driving in an erratic manner. He gave a breath sample which showed a concentration of 88 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
Outlining the other offence, Inspector Pat Cody said the defendant was driving in Rosslare when he hit a pole, knocking a traffic sign off it. It cost €100 to repair.
Sharon Cooney, solicitor said her client was pleading guilty to a reduced charge of careless driving. He had a momentary lapse of concentration. He left the scene to park up the vehicle for the night.
Judge O Buachalla fined him €300 for careless driving and €200 for failing to report the accident.
He postponed the disqualification order until December 1.
