Motorist fined and banned

A TAGHMON man has been fined €900 and disqualified from driving for one year.

Philip Sinnott ( 26), with addresses at Ard na Munna and Main Street, Taghmon, was not in Wexford District Court on Monday to meet the charges against him.

He was charged with failing to display and insurance disc at Rochestown, Ballymitty, on September 11, 2010, and failing to display an insurance disc at Main Street, Taghmon, on November 16, 2009.

Sergeant Charles O'Gorman said he clocked Sinnott driving at 114 km/h in an 80 km/h zone at Rochestown. On-thespot fines were issued for that offence and for failing to display and insurance disc, but Sinnott did not pay them.

He also failed to pay the on-the-spot fine issued by Garda John O'Flynn for not displaying his insurance disc in Taghmon.

Sgt O'Gorman informed Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla that Sinnott has 40 previous convictions.

Judge O Buachalla fined Sinnott €300 in respect of each of the three offences, and also imposed a one-year ban.
