Motorist given April deadline to produce insurance certificate
FAILURE TO produce documents promptly to Gardaí after she was pulled up close to her home proved a protracted source of inconvenience for a Kilmore Quay motorist.
Kelly Dickens from 26 Crossfarnogue was required by Garda Anthony Connolly to show proof of driving licence and insurance cover when he pulled her up on July 21 in 2008.
The case was still live at Enniscorthy District Court last week when Ms. Dickens attended the courthouse in Ardcavan, though Garda Connolly was not present. Judge David Anderson asked her if she had the relevant paperwork with her and she responded that she had brought her provisional licence. She also offered a letter purporting to show that she was insured.
The judge accepted the licence but ruled that the letter was not sufficient to meet the case. He gave her until the court sitting of April 14 to come up with the certificate required instead.
He made no apology for stringing out the matter, pointing out that she should have produced the documents at the time.
