The pedestrian crossing at the junction of Clonard Avenue may soon be moved.
This follows a notice of motion from Cllr Fergie Kehoe who said that 'in the interest of road safety the Borough Engineer would exploring moving the pedestrian crossing further away from the junction of Clonard Avenue, following a number of complaints I have received from pedestrians and motorists'.
He said that he had a number of complaints about the safety at the junction adding there had been a number of minor accidents there.
He said that it is because the junction is so close to the Main Road. 'Road safety is paramount as is saving lives. I really think it needs to be moved.'
He was supported by Cllr Davy Haves who said it was badly needed.
All the borough district members agreed with the thrust of the motion and expressed the need for safety at the junction. The motion was unaminously carried after a brief discussion.
