More jobs are expected to come on stream at Pillar Healthcare in Enniscorthy after the company signed a new distribution deal with a UK company.
The deal between Pillar Healthcare and Cress UK Ltd will see its fertility supplement, Pre-Conceive, distributed to pharmacies and health food stores right across Britain and is expected to lead to further jobs for Enniscorthy.
pre-Conceive is a clinically studied nutritional supplement specifically designed to support both men and women who are trying to conceive. It has only been on the market for 14 months but sales in Irish pharmacies, health stores and online are increasing rapidly month on month.
While distribution in Ireland is handled by Wholefoods Wholesale in Dublin, the UK deal opens up a significant new market for Pillar and it is hoped the deal will lead to more jobs at its hub in Enniscorthy and Leeson Street according to CEO Mark Whitney.
'We've been in negotiations with Cress UK Ltd for some months and are delighted to have brokered a deal which will see us sell between €35,000 and €45,000 worth of product immediately. The reaction in the UK has been phenomenal and we've really only begun to introduce pre-Conceive to that market.
'The UK distribution deal with Cress UK Ltd is the breakthrough we've been looking for. They are based outside of London and one of the larger nutritional product suppliers in Britain. We already employ three staff here in Wexford but hope that if this goes well, we could add another five to seven staff within the next three years.
'Cress UK Ltd is one of Britain's largest distributors of nutritional products in the market. They were the obvious choice from speaking to their customers. They represent major brands are were very keen and enthusiastic to represent Pillar Healthcare in Britain. They over-deliver on their promises, they have a technical sales team and their dedication to their customers and the industry is unrivalled.
'This new deal comes just weeks after very encouraging results from our clinical study on pre-Conceive. Big names in the pharmacy channel in Ireland such as Lloyds, McCabes and Sam McCauley's have been extremely supportive and from our initial conversations with agents in the UK, the appetite for the product is even stronger.'
Pillar recommends that couples taking pre-Conceive follow a minimum 90-day programme. pre-Conceive has been designed for anyone planning to conceive and is ideal for the couple just beginning their journey as it can lay down all the groundwork for the male to produce 'strong sperm', the expectant mum to develop a healthier egg and positively influence the baby's health, Mark Whitney explained.
pre-Conceive recently finished runner up in the 'Best New Product' section at the Irish Pharmacy News Awards. The young businessman, twenty-nine, has also won the title of Wexford's Best Young Entrepreneur 2014 and pre-Conceive has also been nominated for Best New Product in the UK by CAM magazine, a complementary medicine publication.
