New light needs to be shed on Barry statue in Wexford
AFTER almost 80 years in the dark on Crescent Quay, new light could at last be shed on the statue of Commordore John Barry.
The statue honouring one of Wexford's most famous sons was erected in 1956, but accroding to Cllr George Lawlor it has never been lit up.
'It's time we rectified this. The statue is one of our most iconic pieces and I am asking the council engineers to find a solution. It's too valuable a piece of our history to be left in the dark anymore,' he said of the statue of Tacumshane-born Barry.
