The new Mayor of Wexford will be elected on Monday, June 29.
The current Mayor, George Lawlor, will hand over his chain of office at the annual general meeting of Wexford Borough District. The election of the new mayor will take place in the Arts Centre at 7.30pm and it is expected that Cllr Fergie Kehoe will take the reigns.
Setting the date at last week's monthly meeting of Wexford Borough District, Mayor Lawlor joked that Cllr. Deirdre Wadding was going to buy a new frock for the occasion but knowing the numbers are stacked against any possible chance of election Cllr. Wadding retorted that 'pigs will fly'.
