children across the county will be able to find local links to the 1916 Rising thanks to a new resource pack for primary and secondary school pupils.

'The 1916 Rising and County Wexford: An Educational Resource' was recently launched by Chairman of Wexford County Council Tony Dempsey at a special event in the Presentation Centre in Enniscorthy. Intended for primary and secondary schools, the guide gives a glimpse into Wexford's involvement in the Rising.

Speaking at the launch, Chairperson Cllr Tony Dempsey commended the staff at Wexford Library who have helped to bring the pack to fruition.

'Only through understanding the legacy of our past that we can look forward to our future. I hope a resource like this enhances our young people's understanding of their past and helps them become engaged citizens in our county's and country's future.'

The publication is part of County Wexford's 1916 Centenary Programme. Copies will be sent to every school in the county and will also be available in each branch library in Wexford.
