No seatbelt on child
A MAN who allowed a small child sit in the front of a car with no seatbelt on and jump around while he drove has been fined €350.
Thomas O'Connor (64), of The Cottage, Ballycushlane, Broadway, was charged with permitting a juvenile to sit in a front seat with no safety belt on at Tomcoole on February 21, 2010.
Garda Mairead Cummins said she was driving behind O'Connor's vehicle when she saw a 'small child in the front passenger seat jumping around' and 'sitting sideways'.
She stopped O'Connor and he admitted the offence and apologised for it. The child was aged 10, the court heard.
O'Connor was issued with an on-the-spot fine that he subsequently failed to pay, leading to last week's conviction in court.
