Justin Kelly of Sewage.ie
Justin Kelly of Sewage.ie

A Taghmon-based company is making a name for itself in the unglamourous but necessary business of sewage treatment.

Sewage.ie was established in 2010 by Justin Kelly, BEng MIEI and Terry O' Leary RICS who are bringing their individual expertise to the enterprise.

Justin has been self-employed as a civil engineer and surveyor since 1998 running Capital Surveys Ltd and specialising in topographical surveying, civil engineering, environmental engineering, design works (drainage, construction etc) and sinspections for banks.

Terry O' Leary is a chartered surveyor and a rural planning development engineer and has been a self-employed engineer since 1996.

The pair have merged their experience in sewage.ie which is based in Castlehayestown, Taghmon.

The company offers a range of services and products including the emptying of septic tanks and WwTP; drain and gully cleaning; CCTV drain surveys; topographical and as built surveys.

It is the authorised distributor in Ireland for the Biorock (non-electric) Waster Water Treatment Plant and the Mantair septic tank conversion unit.

These products can be utilised in new builds and upgrades.

The Mantair is a very unique product and its sole purpose is to upgrade your existing septic tank into a waste water treatment plan without any excavation works. It fits inside the existing tank. Other services include soil testing, the design of percolation areas, polishing filters and willow beds etc, drainage design, environmental analysis and the recommendation and specification of sewage upgrades for domestic and commercial customers.

Sewage.ie is certified to install the Biorock WwTP and Mantair units; the installation of the WwTP and percolation area.

Justin and Terrys provide civil and environmental engineering services and prepare housing estates to be taken in charge by County Councils.

What makes sewage.ie different to other companies, according to Justin is that it provides all these services in-house.

'As professional and qualified engineers we have the experience and knowledge on the best option for our client's specific needs.'

'For example, we can empty a septic tank with our sludge tanker and compile a report on its condition.

'We can do a specification and a recommendation on what upgrade it may require.

'The company has all the relevant insurances – we hold professional indemnity insurance which is a key requirement when submitting a report to a local authority inspection body.

'We can prepare a full specification and recommendation as part of a grant application and as it has been prepared by qualified engineers, it should pass with ease.'

'A lot of companies out there empty septic tanks and offer a free inspection.

'Are they really qualified to do so or is it just because they have emptied septic tanks for 20 years. We offer a professional service,' said Justin.

For Biorock distribution and spetic tank emptying the company covers Wexford, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny and Wicklow.

Sewage.ie covers all of Ireland for Mantair and over the next year, it hopes to have licensed contractors in place in various stragegic counties throughout the country.

The company has a wide range of customers from domestic and commercial to County and Borough Councils and also food industry clients including Irish Pride.
