The doors of Wygram Nursing Home were officially opened last Friday by Minister Brendan Howlin.
The state of the art nursing home in the centre of Wexford town started accepting residents on a phased basis at the end of May with numbers growing steadily.
The nursing home has room for 71 residents and already has a staff of 53 but this is expected to swell to 70 as more residents move in.
Managing director James White said that at the heart of the nursing home is the community, both the community within the walls itself and also the wider community.
Wygram offers long-term care, short-term care, respite, convalescent care and palliative care. Other services at Wygram include nursing care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, chiropody and health and beauty services.
The €6.5 million project was built by Mythen Construction.
