Why Wexford needs Meadows & Byrne

Dear Editor

Job creation is a theme that runs through all of Wexford Chamber's policy areas and the extensive lobbying and communications work that was conducted throughout 2012 by all Chambers throughout the country has focused us on the need for job creation initiatives.

Live Register figures are very worrying for Wexford and the Chamber welcomed the news of Wexford Borough Council granted Planning Permission for the development of the Meadows & Byrne Project at Drinagh, Wexford. This lifestyle concept will result in around 70 jobs being created.

Meadows & Byrne is a wholly owned Irish company that has been welcomed in at least 12 other locations in Ireland.

Wexford needs these jobs and our sub-contractors and tradesmen will also benefit from this project.

It is incumbent on us to welcome new business to Wexford and to encourage a strong message that we are open for business.

The Chamber continues to work with Wexford County Council, Wexford Borough Council, IDA, Enterprise Ireland and other agencies in a collaborative effort to attract new business to Wexford. Companies such as Meadows & Byrne will draw a new dimension of shoppers from neighbouring counties to Wexford.

These visitors will spend money and visit the town. The project will enhance Wexford as a shopping experience.

Wexford Chamber believes this project to be a very worthwhile and valuable project and one that will deliver jobs for our town. Our local economy will receive a well deserved boost.

With kind regards

Fleur Creed,

Wexford Chamber.
