Packie lends a hand to Wexford football
GOALIE LEGEND DROPS BY FOR FAI AGREEMENT
THE WEXFORD Football Development Programme is in safe hands, with Packie Bonner visiting Wexford last week to oversee the signing of an agreement by Wexford County Council and the FAI to continue their joint funding for the programme.
The new programme will build on the success of the previous three years, focusing on grassroots, social inclusion, women's football and coach education.
Over 750 coaches have went through FAI coach education courses in Wexford over the three years. The League Emerging Talent Programme now caters for underage boys and girls and the Regional Emerging Talent Programme is also based in the FAI Regional centre in Bunclody AFC
A new Special Olympics football club has been founded in Gorey. A girls' winter training camp helped cater for players interested in improving their skills. Other successes include the Thursday night football league in New Ross which has catered for over 200 men and women from different backgrounds and nationalities.
The Development Officer works closely with the Community & Enterprise team in Wexford County Council.
